Six Things That Make A Brief Usable.

  1. The magazine title, issue date and final artwork deadline.
  2. The page size, column width, house style and any print colour limits.
  3. The data as CSV, XLSX, Google Sheet export or clearly typed source material.
  4. Source links, report names and the editor signing off interpretation.
  5. The intended use: chart redraw, infographic, map, table, timeline or full-page feature.
  6. Any web crops required after print approval.

Travel and meetings

Mostly Remote, Practical In Person.

Leeds radius

In-person editorial planning is available within 25 miles of Leeds when a flatplan benefits from everyone standing around the same printouts.

Press-day workshops

London or Manchester press-day workshops are quoted with rail travel at cost.

Remote proofing

Most jobs run cleanly by email with marked-up PDF proofs, especially for established production desks.

Seasonal note

Please Book Around Late August.

Mara closes for the last two weeks of August after the machinery-directory artwork is delivered, because that is the only fortnight the inbox reliably goes quiet. September work is best booked before that final August proof cycle.

No Form To Fill In.

Email the brief, sheet and deadline. If the job is not a fit, Mara will say so before anyone wastes a production afternoon.
